Salute to Philippine Travel Blogger: Eric and Christian
“What is the noble thing you’ve done lately?” I asked myself while I was inside a bathroom, contemplating… “NON!” I whisper… I’m now here in front of the computer, thinking…
Suddenly, there was this flashback when I was still a noob photographer… I remember the people who inspired me, who support my work in the process, who believes in me, and people who paved the way of what I do now in terms of my deep passion to arts.
Enrico Dormido – a.k.a Eric Dee of www.byahilo.com – I remember this guy when we were a slave of the call center industry. He is always absent, always on leave but when he do report to work, 50% of his time will be consumed on editing pictures and maintaining his blog! I envied him for doing the things he love. He is the master of old churches, town fiesta, cheap accommodation, food, and local events.
He lend me his film SLR and the rest is history. It awaken the photography beast inside me. Eric thought me of the basics, gave some tips, had the chance to shoot with him in various tourism spots in the country.
Mabuhay ka Eric!
Christian Lucas Sangoyo: http://www.lakadpilipinas.com – is one of the photographers I look up to. He was also my office mate at Sykes few years back. I admire his work a lot. He won various contest including trip to Holland! Some of his works has been published in Lonely Planet. Bro, I hope your passion stays sharp as your lens. More power to you!
We always admire people/companies who do charity works. Rich man who helps the poor. Government officials who are always there to lend hands in times of natural disasters (in front of media of course) but too little recognition to ordinary people who give their lives in promoting tourism.
Traveling is not easy. You have to endure hours of getting to the destination, the danger of riding an out trigger boat in an open sea, endure the loneliness during the night, unfamiliar territory with no guaranteed safety, and worst limited resources and money for all the expenses during the tour with no income in return. Nevertheless, they are committed to show you guys the beauty of what this life can offer.
Hat’s off to them! “slow” Clap! Clap! Clap!
